OMGSSSH!! I am so glad that I am finally starting these posts on my blog because they have been on my "WANT" to do list for a LONG TIME!! My life has taken on an extra turn of "busy" in a good way as it was an answered prayer but it has also eaten into all of my free "me time" that I normally would use for my blog at night! I'm hoping to be able to find a better balance over these next few weeks and during summer so that I can continue to post more as I enjoy it!
Anyway.. back to pictures and Louie's room...
My friend Chandler came over a few weeks ago and took these photos of our home room by room and I cannot wait to show them all to you! She can make any place, person, or thing look like a MILLION BUCKS! Like, she could even make these before photos that you are going to see look like the Grand Hotel! She is amazing and seriously all the credit goes to her for this post!! Check her out on instagram @chandlergrace and you will fall in LOVE!!
You can read all about our move last summer in this post here, which is a fun story, but we did spend a few weeks last summer painting, painting, painting, and just making the home feel more like ours with some touches like new baseboards and things!
This home has been such a blessing to us! We spent a lot of time working on it to make it feel like "ours" and so I wanted to share some of the updates that we did room by room starting with Little Lou's room!
So first, the before... (All before's are just snaps off my iphone)
We, as in my husband and his dad lol, started in Louie's room by taking out all the baseboards. We wanted to have thicker baseboards and thought this would really make the room feel fresh! We then painted the ceilings with a flat white ceiling pant, painted the window/door/closet trim with Valspar white trim paint, and painted Louie's room Mindful Grey by Sherwin Williams.
Louie's room and our room don't have closet doors so that is a current summer project! :)
It amazed me what paint can do to brighten a room! Even just painting the closet white made it all pop!
Seth and his dad then added all the baseboards after we had finished painting the walls. We actually used composite baseboards instead of wood as it was SO much more cost effective and from the eye, you cannot tell any difference. They came primed but we had to paint them our same Valspar trim paint color.
Ahh!! I just love seeing little Haddie in this picture! So cute!!
And now all the afters!
Anyone spy a little piñata!? See why I can't part with it here. I'm not even a sentimental person and I just can't seem to give it up though! LOL
If you look close at the little white picture frame on the left, this is my favorite thing about Louie's room. It's a picture of my dad who passed away when I was 12. His name was Louis Trujillo, but he went by Louie. It's a picture of his baseball card and one of my favorite possessions. I love looking at that picture everyday. You can read more about Louie's name here at the VERY end of the post.

So you might be wondering about where Louie's bed is as he does not yet sleep in a Queen! ha Good question! It's actually between the bed and the closet, not pictured! Haddie was supposed to transition to a big girl bed way earlier than we ended up doing and so Louie slept perfectly in his pack n' play with a pack n' play mattress up until a few weeks ago. Now he is in Haddie's old crib and it looks much more like a nursery/guest room now! You can't get everything you want to be done before pictures!
Since Louie's room is a joint guest room, I knew I wanted to do neutrals with pops of color, like the green pillows. I would also like to add curtains in this room as I know it is nicer for guests in the mornings as the sun comes in. I'm thinking brushed gold rods for the hardware and maybe something with tassels on the edges.
Hope you enjoy the pictures! I really love how it continues to turn out and enjoy going into his room.
Can't wait to show you more!
xo, Ashley
Throwing it back to a few months ago when Chandler came and took some photos of our house as I love seeing the changes we made in the year we have lived in our home! I'm continuing the next room BEFORE/AFTER post with the living room/office area…
